Printing a shipping label on Etsy
The button is two clicks inside Shop Manager and the label comes out as a PDF; almost every print problem after that traces to one printer-dialog setting rather than the label itself. From order to printed label
Etsy's help article lays this out as a short sequence and we followed it exactly on help.etsy.com, read 2026-08-28.
- Sign in and open Shop Manager. Choose Orders from the left-hand menu — every paid order that still needs a label sits here.
- Select the order and choose Download Shipping Label. Etsy generates the PDF for that order's carrier, weight and service on the spot.
- Open the PDF and choose Print from wherever that sits in the viewer — Etsy notes it is “usually in the File dropdown.”
- Set the paper size to match your stock. Etsy's exact instruction: “if you're printing on label paper, be sure to select '4 in. x 6 in.' as the paper size in your printer settings.” Letter paper works too — see the sizes below.
- Check the print preview before committing. Etsy warns that “distorted label prints may prevent package scanners from reading your label” — a crooked or shrunk barcode is easier to catch on screen than at drop-off.
- Tape it down. Etsy's instruction: attach the label to the top of the package “using clear packaging tape” over the whole sheet.

Every label Etsy sells — USPS, UPS and FedEx alike — prints on a standard letter sheet from a home printer. Print at full scale, cut around the label if the sheet has extra white space, and tape all four sides.
Reprints work the same way

When the print comes out wrong
Nearly every scannability complaint is a scaling mismatch, not a corrupted file. If a 4x6 label prints as a postage-stamp-sized image in the corner of a letter sheet, a PDF viewer's default Fit to Page is shrinking it — turn that off and set the print dialog's page size to match the paper actually loaded. If a thermal printer stretches or compresses the barcode, its own media-size setting has drifted from 4x6, usually after a driver update; reopen the printer preferences and set the stock back to 4x6 before printing again. Etsy's preview pane catches both before a single sheet is wasted, which is why the help article calls it out on its own.
