Weekend delivery

Does UPS do Sunday delivery?

UPS itself closes the question. Its weekend delivery page describes a Monday through Saturday operation and then states flatly: “However there are no deliveries on Sunday.” That wording was read on ups.com on 2026-08-09, and no service tier in the domestic lineup overrides it for an ordinary parcel.

A UPS parcel with a Sunday inside its transit window simply sits that day. The window is counted in business days for exactly that reason.

What the UPS week looks like on paper

The weekend page, read 2026-08-09, sets out the whole calendar in two sentences: delivery service for residential and commercial parcels runs Monday through Saturday, Sunday is excluded, and “Most packages are generally delivered by 8 p.m.” Saturday is the day UPS treats as expandable — ground to a home on a Saturday carries no extra charge, ground to a business carries a per-package fee — while Sunday is not offered at any price.

How each day of the week behaves for UPS parcel delivery, per the UPS weekend delivery and Ground Saver pages, both read on ups.com 2026-08-09.

SaturdayDelivered; residential ground at no extra fee, commercial ground carries a per-package feeListed by UPS as a delivery day

The practical consequence hides in transit math. A two-business-day parcel handed over on a Friday is due Tuesday, because Saturday only counts when the service actually delivers that day and Sunday never counts at all. Our UPS Saturday guide covers which air services buy the sixth day and what it costs.

The Ground Saver wrinkle, and why it changes nothing

Ground Saver is the one UPS service where a reasonable person might expect a Sunday, because the final leg can be postal: the UPS page for it says “Packages delivered by UPS and the USPS,” and USPS famously runs some Sunday routes. The same page closes the loophole, listing the service's delivery days as “Monday - Saturday” (ups.com, read 2026-08-09). The postal partnership is there to reach PO Boxes, Alaska, Hawaii and military addresses — places standard ground does not go — not to add a seventh day.

The handoff widens the map

UPS scopes Ground Saver to residential addresses and extends it to PO Boxes and APO, FPO and DPO destinations through the postal leg. Coverage is the point of the arrangement.

The calendar stays fixed

Whichever network carries the last mile, the published delivery days stay Monday through Saturday. A Saver parcel sitting in a post office on Saturday night resumes moving Monday.

Photo proof follows the driver

UPS notes that delivery photo confirmation exists only on packages UPS delivers itself. On postal-delivered pieces the final scan comes from the letter carrier instead.

When the parcel truly has to land on a Sunday

One published domestic option exists, and it is not at UPS. The usps.com Priority Mail Express page, read 2026-08-09, offers “Sunday and holiday delivery available in many major markets for an additional fee.” Two limits sit inside that sentence: coverage is by market rather than nationwide, and the premium is quoted at purchase. For a deadline that genuinely falls on a Sunday, that product — bought where the destination qualifies — is the move; our USPS Sunday guide walks through it.

Handing a box to UPS on a Sunday is a different matter from having one delivered. Drop boxes are listed by UPS as 24/7, so a Sunday-evening drop is fine — it just meets the same Monday collection as a box dropped at dawn. If the goal is arrival by Sunday rather than on it, the cheaper play is usually backing the ship date up one day and letting Saturday delivery do the work.

UPS and Sundays, answered

Does UPS deliver packages on Sunday?

No. The UPS weekend delivery page, read 2026-08-09, describes a Monday through Saturday operation and adds that there are no deliveries on Sunday. No paid tier changes that for an ordinary parcel.

Does UPS Ground Saver arrive on Sunday, since USPS can carry the last leg?

No. The UPS Ground Saver page itself lists delivery days as Monday - Saturday, read 2026-08-09. The postal handoff widens where the service reaches, not which days it runs.

Can I drop a package at UPS on a Sunday?

Yes, into a drop box - UPS lists its drop boxes as 24/7. The parcel starts moving with the next business-day collection, so a Sunday drop and a Monday morning drop reach the sort at the same time.

What actually delivers on a Sunday in the US?

USPS Priority Mail Express is the published option: usps.com states Sunday and holiday delivery is available in many major markets for an additional fee, read 2026-08-09. Coverage is by market, so the specific address decides.
