There is no single figure to quote, and DHL does not pretend there is one. What sets the number is chargeable weight, a destination zone, and a stack of named surcharges on top — several of which change on their own schedule, not the calendar's. This site sells no DHL Express labels, so what follows is DHL's own published pricing mechanics, read from dhl.com on 2026-08-30, with the U.S. domestic side priced separately through the calculator.
Weight sets the base rate. Everything named below is added on top of it, or in place of it.
Three inputs settle the base figure: the chargeable weight, which DHL takes as the larger of the scale reading and a volumetric figure worked out from the box's dimensions; the zone DHL assigns the destination; and whether the shipper holds a DHL Express account, since without one the published Express Service and Rate Guide sets the rate and DHL says an account brings preferred pricing instead. The rest of this page is the part that lands after the base rate is set, and it is where most of the gap between a quoted figure and an invoice comes from. None of it is visible on a scale.

One line worth noticing precisely because it is not on that table: DHL lists biological substances under UN3373, the category covering diagnostic and clinical specimens, at no charge at all. Not every regulated-sounding shipment costs extra — a few carry no fee once they are correctly declared.
The fuel rows are the one figure on this table that moves every single week regardless of anything about the box itself. DHL had already posted the following week when this page was read: 32.75 percent export and 36.50 percent import for August 31 to September 6, 2026. A rate somebody quotes from memory, or from a page read a month ago, is carrying last month's percentage.
None of the figures above turn into a specific dollar total without the shipment's own weight, dimensions and destination entered somewhere. DHL's tools do that math: MyDHL+ for a live quote, or the printed Express Service and Rate Guide for the published no-account figures. This site does not run either one — SMKlog sells USPS, UPS and FedEx labels for parcels moving inside the United States, and DHL Express out of the U.S. is an outbound international service only, so a checkout quote for it is not something this page can produce or should guess at.
What the calculator can do is price the part of a shipment that actually stays domestic: a box mailed to a forwarder, a return leg, or any move between two U.S. ZIP codes. That number is worth having in hand before comparing it against whatever DHL's own tools return for the leg that leaves the country.
