Conformance claim
smklog.com partially conforms to WCAG 2.2 level AA. Partially means that every criterion an automated audit can check passes on the audited pages after the fixes of 19 October 2026, while the criteria only a person can judge have not been assessed, and two best-practice notes remain open. This is a self-assessment with an automated tool; no third-party certification and no VPAT has been produced. The statement is refreshed after every audit; the date in the heading is the date of the last run.
The audit
| What | Value |
|---|---|
| Date | 19 October 2026 |
| Tool | axe-core 4.10.2, rule set WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 at levels A and AA, plus axe best practices; run in Chromium through Playwright by scripts/a11y_audit.mjs in the site repository |
| Pages | 17: the home page, the calculator, pricing, tracking, support, about, terms, privacy, the guide index and one guide, the developer portal with the webhooks and rate-limits pages, the trust center with three of its pages |
| Widths | 1280 px desktop and 390 px phone, 34 page views in all |
| Not covered | The checkout screens behind a live quote, the account and label pages behind a login, the printed label itself (a carrier-generated image), and everything only a person can judge: reading order with a screen reader, the sense of link texts, cognitive load |
Fixed on 19 October 2026
- Touch targets (WCAG 2.5.8): the footer links on every page and the link lists on the guide index were 14 to 21 px tall. They now have a 24 px target.
- Autocomplete (WCAG 1.3.5): the tracking-number field carried an invalid autocomplete token; it is now
off. - Scrollable code blocks (WCAG 2.1.1): code samples on the developer pages scroll sideways on a phone but could not take keyboard focus; they can now.
- Contrast of the primary buttons (WCAG 1.4.3): white text on the brand orange (#ff4b21) measured 3.3:1 on every Calculate Shipping, Get rates and similar button, 61 elements in the audit. The owner chose the darker shade the same day: buttons are now #d93c0c (4.6:1 with white text) with a #c23509 hover, in the light and the dark theme alike; the brighter orange stays only in icons.
- Three small texts (WCAG 1.4.3): the link blue on white at 4.2:1 (now #3a6fa6, 5.2:1) and the soft grey caption on the calculator at 2.9:1 (now #5f6f8c, 5.1:1).
A second run of the same audit after these changes reports no WCAG failure on the 17 pages at either width.
Open findings
- Best practices, not WCAG failures: some pages go from a level-one heading straight to level three, and the guide index places an aside inside the main region. Both are structural and are left as they are until the shared page shell is next rebuilt.
- Not yet assessed: the checkout screens behind a live quote, the pages behind a login, and everything a person with assistive technology would judge (reading order, link sense, cognitive load). The next step is a walkthrough with a screen reader; the date will appear here when it has happened.
If a page does not work for you
Write to info@smklog.com with the page address and what happened; the founder answers within two business days and, where the page is the problem, fixes it or does the step for you by email (a quote, a label, a tracking status). A notice about a page that is unusable with assistive technology is handled on the notice-and-action clock.
