What you can report

  • A page you believe is illegal or infringes your rights: a guide, a price page, an image, a quoted passage. SMKlog writes every page itself, quotes sparingly with attribution, and takes a page down or corrects it when a notice holds.
  • A label bought with your card or in your name without authorization: SMKlog cancels the label where the carrier has not yet accepted the parcel, refunds the charge, and keeps the record for the card issuer and law enforcement.
  • A shipment you believe breaks the law: prohibited goods, a recipient who did not consent, a label used for something it was not sold for. SMKlog checks its order record and reports to the carrier and, where required, to the authorities.
  • Misuse of the API or the site: an agent or a script abusing the quote endpoint, a phishing page imitating SMKlog, a listing elsewhere that misrepresents SMKlog.

How to send a notice

Email info@smklog.com with the subject Notice. Include: the exact URL, order id, tracking number or label in question; what is wrong and, for a rights claim, on what basis (the work or mark, and that you are the holder or act for the holder); how to reach you; and a statement that the notice is made in good faith. A notice with those elements is complete; one without them gets a reply asking for what is missing, and the clock starts when it arrives. Anonymous notices are read; they cannot be answered.

Security vulnerabilities go through security.txt instead. Privacy requests (access, correction, deletion) go the way the privacy policy describes.

What happens then

  1. Acknowledgment within two business days (New York time), with a reference you can quote.
  2. A decision within ten business days of a complete notice: the content is removed or corrected, the label is cancelled and refunded, the report is passed on, or the notice is declined with the reason. A matter that needs a carrier or a bank to act is reported to them inside the same ten days; their own timelines are theirs.
  3. Counter-notice. Someone whose page or label was acted on can answer at the same address within ten business days; SMKlog decides again on both submissions and tells both sides.
  4. Record. Every notice, decision and counter-notice is kept for two years. Counts are published on the transparency report.

Decisions are made by the founder, the one person who runs SMKlog; there is no automated moderation of notices. Law enforcement and court orders are answered at the same address and handled with priority.
