Large still parcels
An 18 x 18 x 24 in box packed to a reasonable weight clears every major carrier's size limits. Our moving box size guide carries a live parcel quote for exactly this size.
Once a moving box goes past medium, the sourcing question changes: not every retailer that carries a small carton also carries an 18 x 18 x 28 in dish pack or a 24 x 24 x 48 in wardrobe box with a bar. Below are named prices from U-Haul, Home Depot, Uline and Walmart, every one read on the seller's own product page on 2026-08-30, for the three sizes above medium.
The sellers below carry these three sizes; not every one of them carries all three.
A large box is the size a mover reaches for when a medium box would fill up on weight before it fills up on space: bedding, pillows, lampshades, empty pans, plastic bins. All three sellers below stock it, at very different prices.
| Seller and item | Smallest purchase | Price per box |
|---|---|---|
| Home Depot Large Moving Box, model 1001006 | One box, in store or online | 1.60 USD |
| U-Haul Large Moving Box | One box | 2.87 USD |
| U-Haul Large Moving Box, bundle | Bundle of 15 (37.20 USD) | 2.48 USD |
| Uline S-4338, 200 lb test | Bundle of 15 (48.45 USD) | 3.23 USD |
Home Depot is the cheapest single box and the only one of the three that sells this size one at a time at that price without a store visit; U-Haul's single price is close behind and its bundle discount is modest. Uline held the same 3.23 USD per box from its 15-box minimum straight through its 990-plus tier on 2026-08-30, which makes its "bundle price" really a case-lot price rather than a discount that grows with volume — cheaper only if a 15-box minimum is one you can use. Lowe's lists the same footprint as its Classic Large Cardboard Moving Box (model 1211258), but its site holds pricing behind a chosen store rather than publishing one nationally, so no figure for it appears above.
A dish pack is a heavy-duty double-wall carton built to take a top-loaded stack of plates on edge or two rows of stemware in cell dividers without the layer below crushing. Both sellers below sell the bare box; the cell dividers are a separate line item at either one.
| Seller and item | Rating | Smallest purchase | Price per box |
|---|---|---|---|
| U-Haul Double-Walled Dish Barrel Box | 120 lb capacity | One box | 7.95 USD |
| Uline S-4676 | 350 lb double wall | Bundle of 5 (53.80 USD) | 10.76 USD |
| Uline S-4676, larger bundle | 350 lb double wall | 1,000+ boxes | 8.52 USD |
U-Haul sells the single cheapest dish pack and is the only one of the two that will sell just one; Uline's is the heavier-rated board and its per-box price keeps falling as the order grows, which only matters to someone packing more kitchens than their own. Home Depot's dish-pack listings on 2026-08-30 were bundled kits — a dish-pack box plus cell dividers, tape and paper sold together for 79 USD and up — rather than a bare carton at a comparable per-box price, so it is left out of the table above rather than compared unevenly.
A wardrobe box saves the fold-then-hang cycle at the other end and takes the load off the box top with a metal bar across the inside. The three sellers below do not all stock the same height, which is worth checking against a closet's hanging-rod length before ordering.

| Home Depot Wardrobe Box, model TALLWARDMET | 20 x 20 x 42 in | One box | 17.98 USD |
| U-Haul Banded Grand Wardrobe Box | 24 x 24 x 48 in, 100 lb cap. | One box | 21.50 USD |
| Walmart UBoxes wardrobe box, bundle | 24 x 24 x 40 in | Bundle of 3 (34.98 USD) | 11.66 USD |
Walmart's bundle of three is the cheapest per box by a wide margin, and its 24 in footprint matches U-Haul's classic wardrobe size, only shorter by 8 in. U-Haul's is the only one of the three that reaches the full 48 in "grand" height and the only one rated to a stated 100 lb, which is what a full box of winter coats can actually approach. Uline's closest match is not the same size at all — its S-4750 kit is 24 x 20 x 46 in, sold only in bundles of 5 and up starting at 22.81 USD a box, and it ships by motor freight rather than parcel, so it is a different purchase than a single box picked up at a counter.
This page prices the empty cardboard. It does not price shipping a packed dish pack or wardrobe box, and on purpose: past the large size, these boxes stop being parcels.

Both routinely cross parcel length-plus-girth ceilings once packed, and a mover with several of them is not tendering them one at a time to a parcel counter regardless.
A stack of these boxes as part of a household move is a pallet or a truck job, priced by a person rather than by a parcel calculator. Send the details for a freight review instead of pricing one box at a time.

U-Haul, Home Depot and Uline all sell an 18 x 18 x 24 in large box. Checked live 2026-08-30: U-Haul lists it at 2.87 USD single or 2.48 USD each in a bundle of 15, Home Depot lists its own 18 x 18 x 24 in box at 1.60 USD, and Uline's S-4338 runs 3.23 USD a box but only sells in bundles starting at 15.
U-Haul's Double-Walled Dish Barrel Box, 18 x 18 x 28 in and rated to 120 lb, listed at 7.95 USD single, checked 2026-08-30. Uline's S-4676 in the same 18 x 18 x 28 in footprint, rated to 350 lb double wall, runs from 10.76 USD a box in a bundle of 5 down to 8.52 USD at 1,000-plus, the same day.
U-Haul's Banded Grand Wardrobe Box matches the classic 24 x 24 x 48 in size with a 24 in metal bar, listed at 21.50 USD single, checked 2026-08-30. Home Depot's tallest wardrobe box, TALLWARDMET, is narrower at 20 x 20 x 42 in with its own metal bar, at 17.98 USD. Walmart sells a 24 x 24 x 40 in UBoxes wardrobe box with a bar in a bundle of 3 for 34.98 USD, the same day.
A large box at 18 x 18 x 24 in still parcels. A packed dish pack or a 24 x 24 x 48 in wardrobe box does not: both cross parcel dimensional and length-plus-girth ceilings on every major carrier, and a mover moving several of them ships them on a truck rather than one at a time through the mail.
Yes, but only past the bundle's minimum count. Uline's large box is 3.23 USD a box whether the order is 15 or 990, so its bundle price is really a case-lot price, not a sliding discount; its wardrobe kit does slide, from 22.81 USD a box at 5 down to 14.65 USD a box at 1,000-plus. U-Haul and Home Depot sell most of these singly with no bundle at all.
