For ordinary parcels USPS already delivers without collecting a name. Searching for how to waive it is usually a sign that somebody expected a signature they never bought.

Does USPS let you waive a signature in 2026?
No, not on the two services most sellers use: USPS Ground Advantage and Priority Mail never collect a signature in the first place, so there is nothing to waive, and nothing you pay for is refunded by asking. The one place a waiver is real is Priority Mail Express, where USPS Domestic Mail Manual 503 states that when signature service is not requested, or a waiver of signature is requested, additional coverage above the included 100 USD is not available. Waiving the signature there is really a trade: convenience for a lower coverage ceiling.

Does Priority Mail require a signature?
No, not by default. USPS Priority Mail is delivered without a signature the same way Ground Advantage is: a delivery scan, left at the door, in a mailbox or at a parcel locker, nothing more. Priority Mail Express carries the same default underneath its faster transit — the product page prices in a proof of delivery signature record only when it is requested at the time of purchase, so Express does not force a signature either. On any of the three, a signature shows up only when it is added on purpose: buying Signature Confirmation at 4.15 USD electronic or 5.15 USD retail, or covering the shipment above 500 USD, where USPS attaches a signature to the delivery record without being asked.
That also answers whether you have to sign for Priority Mail: no, unless one of those two conditions was chosen before the label was bought. Read that clause carefully, because it links two things people treat as separate. On Express, the choice not to collect a signature closes the door on buying cover above the 100 USD the service already includes. You cannot have the convenience of a doorstep release and the higher ceiling at the same time.
What a waived signature costs at claim time
A delivery scan places a package at a ZIP code at a moment. That is what you are left holding when a buyer says nothing arrived, and it is thin. USPS asks lost-package claims on Priority Mail and Ground Advantage to wait 15 days from mailing and to be filed within 60, and damage claims within 60, and every one of those files goes better with a name attached to the handover.
Our own protection has the same appetite for evidence. Claims under SMKlog shipping protection need an invoice or other proof of value, the tracking record, customer correspondence and photographs where the item was damaged. A signature is not on the required list, but it is the fastest way to close down the argument that the package never got there.
The sensible rule
Leave the release in place on low-value orders, where a signature costs a meaningful share of the margin and a redelivery annoys the buyer. Buy the signature the moment an order is worth more than the cost of losing the dispute, and with Signature Confirmation at 4.15 USD electronic that line arrives earlier than most sellers expect. Whichever way you go, decide it at the rate screen, because none of it can be added after the label prints.
Express trades cover for convenience
Skip signature service on Priority Mail Express and the additional coverage option goes with it. On a valuable Express shipment, that is the wrong economy.
Tell the buyer either way
A signature requirement the recipient does not expect turns into a missed attempt and a trip to the Post Office. One line in the dispatch email prevents most of that.
