Two-day air

UPS 2nd Day Air rates and what the premium buys

Two-day air only makes sense measured against the ground service you would have used instead, so this page shows both. All five 2nd Day Air quotes our production capture contained on 2026-07-27 are here, followed by the ground rows from the identical requests.

Same engine, same day, same boxes. The air rows and their ground alternatives came out of one capture, so the comparison is clean.

All 2nd Day Air rows from 2026-07-27

Five requests surfaced the service that day: two 1 lb cartons on our ladder lanes, one flat document mailer, and a 5 lb box on two broad corridors. Prices are checkout totals with SMKlog's charge included; nothing was added afterward.

Read westbound first: $19.16 against $12.99 swaps a 6-7 day crawl for a 2-3 day window, which is the trade two-day air was invented for. Eastbound tells the opposite story, $16.58 against a ground row that already promised 3-4 days for $10.31. Short lanes make air redundant; long lanes make it rational. Your ZIP pair decides which page of that story you're on.

Flat things fly cheap

The document mailer quoted $15.38, under both 1 lb cartons, because air pricing rewards low bulk. Contracts, certificates and artwork prints are the natural 2nd Day Air cargo.

Long corridors flatten the price

Florida to New York and Texas to California quoted an identical $23.99 for the 5 lb box, despite very different mileage. Air products price in broader strokes than ground, which is exactly why they shine on distance.

Let ground disqualify itself first

Quote before upgrading: when the ground row shows a 3-4 day window, the air premium buys almost nothing. When ground shows 6-7, the same premium buys most of a week. The window column is the real product label.

Two-day air, cross-examined

How much does UPS 2nd Day Air cost?

Our 2026-07-27 capture priced it at $16.58 for a 1 lb box from Newark to Atlanta, $19.16 for the same box from Los Angeles to New York, $15.38 for a flat document mailer on the Newark lane, and $23.99 for a 5 lb box on both a Florida to New York and a Texas to California corridor.

Is 2nd Day Air worth it over ground?

Direction decides. Westbound, ground quoted 6-7 business days at $12.99 while 2nd Day Air quoted 2-3 at $19.16, a real purchase of four days. Eastbound, UPS Ground already quoted 3-4 days at $10.31, so the $16.58 air rate bought one day at most.

Why does the table stop at light weights?

Because the capture did. From 2 lb upward on our ladder lanes, 2nd Day Air stopped appearing among the options the engine returned, priced out by the ground tiers. We publish the rows that existed rather than modeling the ones that didn't.

Does '2-3 business days' mean two days?

It means the carrier attached a window with a buffer day for the lane. Air products usually hit the early edge, but the printed range is the commitment context you should plan around, and every quote on this page carried that 2-3 day window.
