TikTok Shop shipping fee, explained

TikTok Shop US routes most orders through platform-provided labels, and the fee is set by the label option a seller chooses and by the actual weight and dimensions the carrier measures. Sellers who ship on their own labels pay their carrier directly and keep TikTok out of the label loop. The rules below come from the TikTok Shop US seller university, read 2026-08-11.

The three label paths and where the fee comes from

TikTok Shop is unusual among US marketplaces in that the platform buys most labels and charges the seller for them. That fee is set at label creation from the product weight and dimensions maintained in Seller Center, then adjusted after the parcel is handed over if the logistics provider measures a different weight. Free shipping to the buyer is a promotional layer on top, not a separate fee.

The Seller Center estimator uses whatever weight and dimensions the seller keeps on the product record. Update those regularly. A product entered at 8 ounces that actually ships at 14 will produce a fee adjustment on every order, and the adjustment lands after the sale is closed.

Weight-based rate mechanics

The estimator

The Seller Center shipping estimator prints a preview fee based on the record. It is what shows on the order screen when the seller creates the label; it is not what finally bills.

The reweigh

The logistics provider measures actual weight and dimensions at induction. If either differs from the record, the fee is adjusted retroactively. TikTok publishes this in the seller university and applies it consistently across US carriers.

Shipping app add-on charge

A seller who uses a shipping app (an ISV integration) to buy TikTok labels pays the label rate plus the app's own per-label add-on charge. Buying labels inside Seller Center avoids that extra. The choice is a tradeoff between workflow speed and per-label cost.

Postage-included offers to the buyer, and who pays for them

Postage-included buyer offers on TikTok Shop are a promotion the seller opts into, not a subsidy from the platform. The seller absorbs the postage into the item price, or bakes it into a threshold that requires a minimum order to unlock. TikTok markets the no-charge-to-buyer badge heavily because it lifts conversion, but the postage bill remains the seller's.

Baked-in

Set the item price to cover the average shipping and offer postage-included to the buyer. Simple to reason about, hides the postage from the buyer, and stops working the moment your average package weight changes.

Threshold-based

Postage-included over a set order value. Encourages larger baskets, protects the small-order economics, and takes some tuning to land on a threshold that raises the average order without killing conversion below it.

Buyer-pays

Charge the buyer at checkout. Cleanest math for the seller; loses some conversion against listings that display a postage-included badge. Works better for higher-price items where the postage is small relative to the item.

Common questions

Does TikTok Shop set the shipping fee, or do I?

TikTok sets it on Standard Delivery and Collection by TikTok labels: a platform-negotiated rate keyed to the product's weight and dimensions in Seller Center, reweighed at the carrier. On the seller-shipped path you use your own carrier account and the fee is whatever your carrier charges.

How does Collection by TikTok differ from Standard Delivery?

Collection by TikTok is TikTok's promotional-rate pickup product. TikTok's own page positions it below Standard Delivery on price, and pickups happen at the seller's warehouse. Standard Delivery uses the seller's own drop-off or scheduled pickup.

Why did my shipping fee change after the label was created?

The parcel was reweighed at induction and the actual weight or dimensions differed from the values in Seller Center. TikTok's shipping documentation states the fee is adjusted accordingly. Update the product weight and dimensions on the record to stop the pattern.

Who pays for postage-included offers shown on my listings?

The seller. Postage-included buyer offers on TikTok Shop are merchant-funded — the postage is baked into the item price or unlocked at an order threshold, and the label still bills to the seller's account.

Can I ship on my own labels instead of TikTok's?

Yes, on the Seller Shipped path. You buy the label through your own carrier account and mark the order shipped in Seller Center. TikTok Shop is not part of the label transaction.
