Set it up in either direction
Nothing in our checkout assumes you are standing next to the package. Enter the sender’s ZIP as origin and yours as destination, pick a service, pay, and the label comes back as a PDF. The Email Label button sends it straight to whoever has the box; they print it, tape it on, and drop it off.
What the carriers themselves offer
Per fedex.com, checked 2026-07-27, an emailed FedEx return label stays printable for up to two years, and a printed one keeps working while the account behind it remains in good standing. UPS lets a shipper void an unneeded label within 90 days through its own site, per ups.com. USPS pairs returns with its Label Broker feature, where the customer shows a QR code and the counter prints the label.
Decide who eats the cost up front
A seller can bake the return into the refund, split it, or deduct the label price from what goes back to the buyer. Buying the label yourself, rather than telling the customer to sort it out, keeps the carrier choice and the price under your control.
