How to get free shipping on Shutterfly

There is no flat order minimum that unlocks it everywhere. Shutterfly runs a standing promo code, SHIP99, that zeroes shipping on US orders of $99 or more, and it separately gives a lower threshold to anyone who links a Costco or Amazon Prime membership they already pay for. There is no Shutterfly-branded paid membership behind any of it — the closest thing, a page called Shutterfly Perks, does not exist on the live site as of 2026-09-01.

Three routes, one label

A promo code, a Costco link or an Amazon Prime link each zero out the shipping charge differently. None of them is a membership you buy from Shutterfly directly.

Three routes to no shipping charge, side by side

Each route sets its own threshold and its own discount, and only one of the three needs nothing but a code at checkout.

The two linked-account routes read like a membership because the discount is ongoing rather than a one-time code, but neither is something Shutterfly sells. Both borrow a membership the shopper already holds for an unrelated reason. Link both and Costco's terms apply by default; Shutterfly's Manage Promos control lets the account switch to Prime's terms instead.

What "free" actually buys: the shipping speed underneath it

None of the three routes above upgrades the shipping method. They waive the cost of Shutterfly's slowest tier, and every faster tier still carries its normal charge on top of whatever discount applies to the order.

Domestic shipping speeds as published by Shutterfly, read 2026-09-01. The free-shipping routes above apply to Economy.
MethodDelivery windowNote
Economy6-10 business daysThe tier SHIP99 and the linked-account thresholds waive; ships via USPS
Standard5-7 business daysGround, door-to-door tracking

Rush3-4 business daysFastest tier offered for most products
Super Rush1-2 business daysLimited to select products

A photo book ordered for a same-week gift on the free-shipping tier can still arrive after the date it's needed. If the calendar is tight, price the faster tiers separately rather than assuming free shipping covers whichever speed shows first at checkout.

What none of these routes covers

Category exclusions

Shutterfly's own shipping page lists large wall art sizes, mailing services, gift cards, yearbooks, international shipments and certain print products as items its free-shipping promotions may exclude. Check a specific product against the promo terms at checkout rather than assuming every line in the cart qualifies.

Combining codes

The Costco-linked discount is explicit that it won't stack with other Shutterfly promo codes. Running SHIP99 on top of a linked-account discount is not how either offer is built to work.

A new account

Signing up gets a batch of free prints and a free art print on the first order, but Shutterfly's own help center says taxes and shipping still apply to that order. New-account and free-shipping are separate offers.

If you're shipping the finished order yourself

A framed print, a bulky photo book or a canvas that arrives damaged or needs to be forwarded to someone else moves outside Shutterfly's own fulfillment and back into a regular parcel. That's a box SMKlog quotes the same way as anything else — enter the packed dimensions and weight against the two ZIP codes and compare USPS, UPS and FedEx on the actual route.

Common questions

How do I get free shipping on Shutterfly?

The standing route is code SHIP99, which zeroes Economy shipping on US orders of $99 or more (shutterfly.com, read 2026-09-01). The code's own listed expiration rotates week to week, so check the live offers page before checkout. Below that, linking a Costco or Amazon Prime membership you already hold drops the threshold to $30 or $35 instead.

Is there a paid Shutterfly Perks membership for free shipping?

No standalone paid membership by that name exists on the live site as of 2026-09-01. Shutterfly's own affiliated-programs help page lists Costco, several airline rewards programs and Amazon Prime as the linked accounts that carry a shipping benefit — none of them is a Shutterfly-branded paid tier you buy directly.

How does the Costco-linked discount work?

A current US Costco membership linked to a Shutterfly account gets 51% off regularly priced orders plus free Economy shipping on orders over $30 (support.shutterfly.com, read 2026-09-01). It will not stack with other Shutterfly promo codes, excludes sale-priced and prepaid items, and one Costco membership can link to up to three Shutterfly accounts.

How does the Amazon Prime-linked discount work?

An active US Amazon Prime membership linked to a Shutterfly account gets 45% off every order plus free shipping on orders over $35, for as long as Prime stays active (support.shutterfly.com, read 2026-09-01). Only the primary Prime holder can link, and only one Shutterfly account per Prime membership. Link both Costco and Prime and Costco's terms apply by default, switchable from Manage Promos.

Does a new Shutterfly account start with free shipping?

No. The first-purchase welcome offer covers a batch of free prints, magnets, address labels and one art print, but Shutterfly's own account-creation help page states plainly that taxes and shipping still apply to that order (support.shutterfly.com, read 2026-09-01).
