Amounts from the FedEx surcharge and fee schedule for 2026, effective Jan. 5, 2026 unless otherwise noted, per fedex.com. Fuel percentages from the FedEx weekly fuel surcharge page: 25.75% on Ground, Home Delivery and International Ground for July 27 to August 2, 2026, and 27.50% on domestic Express for July 20 to 26, 2026. Both checked 2026-07-28. We sell US domestic labels only, so the international rows in the FedEx schedule are outside what we quote.

One caveat we will not paper over. FedEx publishes the additional handling amounts openly, but the US inch and pound thresholds that trigger them were not reachable on its site when we checked; the page returned an error and only the European metric version loaded. So the amounts above are firm and the trigger wording is deliberately general. The oversize thresholds, 96 inches and 130 inches, are confirmed on the FedEx definition page.

Only the highest charge applies

FedEx states that when a package qualifies for more than one of additional handling by dimension, packaging or weight, plus the oversize charge or the unauthorized package charge, only the highest of them is taken after discounts. That is a meaningful protection on a genuinely awkward carton, and it mirrors the way UPS orders its own triggers.

Oversize is billed on the greater weight

An oversize package is rated on its actual rounded weight or its dimensional weight, whichever is larger, and then carries a minimum billable weight of 90 lb. A light bulky carton therefore pays twice for its air, once in dimensional weight and once in the minimum.

Ground Economy is a different animal

The slower economy tier hands the final leg to the Postal Service, which changes which fees can attach and how the peak schedule treats it. FedEx publishes separate Ground Economy amounts in its demand schedule, running $2.55 to $4.05 per package across the 2026 season windows.

What a FedEx rate looks like here

On 2026-07-28 a 12 x 10 x 6 in box at 5 lb from Newark, NJ 07102 quoted $14.31 on FedEx Ground Economy to Atlanta and $20.50 to Los Angeles, each with a 6 to 7 business day window at the time of quoting. Both figures are what you would pay in full, with the SMKlog charge inside.
