The FedEx services we actually saw, 2026-08-21

Quote enough boxes and a pattern emerges, and it does not always repeat month to month: FedEx entered the rate card through two doors this round, not the four we logged last time. Here is one dated example of each, all on the Newark, NJ (07102) to Atlanta, GA (30303) lane, each showing the full amount collected at checkout.

FedEx by weight, Newark 07102 to Atlanta 30303, quoted 2026-08-21

Box weightGround EconomyFedEx Ground
2 lb$12.42below top five
5 lb$14.31below top five
10 lb$17.36below top five
15 lb$20.51below top five
30 lb$34.30$45.54
50 lb$58.19$66.98

"Below top five" is worth decoding: a quote surfaces the five best offers for the box, and at 15 lb and under on this lane, full-speed FedEx Ground kept losing those slots to USPS and UPS, only clearing the bar at 30 lb and 50 lb. Ground Economy never had that problem; from 2 lb up it held a seat at every weight we ran. One honest gap to flag: no FedEx overnight tier appeared anywhere in the 2026-08-21 captures, and neither did Express Saver or 2Day this time, so this page prints none.

Ground Economy is the price weapon

Formerly SmartPost, this tier hands the final mile to USPS and charges accordingly. On the eastern lane at 30 lb it quoted $34.30 while full-speed Ground asked $45.54, and the penalty was a single extra day in the window.

Where the express tiers went

Express Saver and 2Day both earned a seat in our earlier captures on this lane. Quoted fresh on 2026-08-21, neither made the top five on any of the eight boxes we ran, from 1 to 50 lb. Ground Economy and full-speed Ground took every FedEx slot instead, which is exactly the kind of shift you only catch by quoting everything at once instead of trusting last month's page.

One quote, every carrier

A FedEx-only tool answers half the question. The SMKlog calculator sets the purple rows beside USPS and UPS for the identical box, so when FedEx deserves the sale it wins honestly, and when it doesn't you see that too.

FedEx calculator questions

Which FedEx services does the calculator return?

Two surfaced across our 2026-08-21 captures: FedEx Ground Economy and FedEx Ground. Ground Economy appeared most often, holding a seat at every weight we tested from 2 lb up; full-speed Ground only showed up at 30 lb and 50 lb.

Why is there sometimes no FedEx row on a quote?

Each quote lists the five strongest offers for that specific box, so FedEx shows up only when one of its services earns a slot. Our 1 lb Newark to Atlanta test filled all five positions with USPS and UPS; at 5 lb, Ground Economy joined at $14.31.

Are these FedEx list prices?

No. Every dollar figure on this page is a checkout total captured live on 2026-08-21, with SMKlog's cut already folded in. The number on the rate card is the number your card gets charged.

Can I book FedEx overnight through this tool?

Not on the lanes we measured. No FedEx overnight tier appeared in any of our 2026-08-21 captures, and neither did Express Saver or 2Day this round. The fastest FedEx service we saw was full-speed Ground, quoting 5-6 business days on the boxes where it showed up.
