The four FedEx services we actually saw, 2026-07-27

Quote enough boxes and a pattern emerges: FedEx enters the rate card through four doors. Here is one dated example of each, all on the Newark, NJ (07102) to Atlanta, GA (30303) lane, each showing the full amount collected at checkout.

FedEx by weight, Newark 07102 to Atlanta 30303, quoted 2026-07-27

Box weightGround EconomyFedEx Ground
2 lb$12.42below top five
5 lb$14.31below top five
10 lb$17.57below top five
15 lb$20.51$32.23
30 lb$33.05$43.15
50 lb$55.23$63.45

"Below top five" is worth decoding: a quote surfaces the five best offers for the box, and under 15 lb on this lane, full-speed FedEx Ground kept losing those slots to USPS and UPS. Ground Economy never had that problem; from 2 lb up it held a seat at every weight we ran. One honest gap to flag: no FedEx overnight tier appeared anywhere in the 2026-07-27 captures, so this page prints none.

Price your shipment across carriers

Ground Economy is the price weapon

Formerly SmartPost, this tier hands the final mile to USPS and charges accordingly. On the eastern lane at 15 lb it quoted $20.51 while full-speed Ground asked $32.23, and the penalty was a single extra day in the window.

The express tiers pull surprises

On a 14 × 10 × 2 in board weighing about 2 lb, Express Saver quoted $20.07 while FedEx Ground wanted $21.96. A nominally premium product beating the ground product on price is exactly the kind of inversion you only catch by quoting everything at once.

One quote, every carrier

A FedEx-only tool answers half the question. The SMKlog calculator sets the purple rows beside USPS and UPS for the identical box, so when FedEx deserves the sale it wins honestly, and when it doesn't you see that too.

FedEx calculator questions

Which FedEx services does the calculator return?

Four surfaced across our 2026-07-27 captures: FedEx Ground Economy, FedEx Ground, FedEx Express Saver and FedEx 2Day. Ground Economy appeared most often because it prices aggressively for parcels in the 2 to 30 lb band.

Why is there sometimes no FedEx row on a quote?

Each quote lists the five strongest offers for that specific box, so FedEx shows up only when one of its services earns a slot. Our 1 lb Newark to Atlanta test filled all five positions with USPS and UPS; at 5 lb, Ground Economy joined at $14.31.

Are these FedEx list prices?

No. Every dollar figure on this page is a checkout total captured live on 2026-07-27, with SMKlog's cut already folded in. The number on the rate card is the number your card gets charged.

Can I book FedEx overnight through this tool?

Not on the lanes we measured. No FedEx overnight tier appeared in any of our 2026-07-27 captures, and we would rather admit that than invent a price. The fastest FedEx rows we saw were 2Day and Express Saver, both quoting 2-3 business days.
