Does Whatnot combine shipping across wins?

Yes, and it does most of the work automatically. Whatnot's Smart Bundling groups a single buyer's wins from the same seller into one shipment, reducing what the buyer pays and what the seller prints. Seller settings decide the maximum bundle size, and cross-channel and cross-seller orders stay separate. Read on help.whatnot.com 2026-08-11.

Smart Bundling groups wins on Whatnot's side; the seller ships the combined weight.

What Smart Bundling actually does

Whatnot's help page describes Smart Bundling as an automatic step on top of the sale: “Smart Bundling helps lower shipping costs for buyers and simplifies fulfillment for sellers by automatically grouping eligible purchases into shipments.” Read on help.whatnot.com 2026-08-11. The seller does not have to press a button after each show; wins from the same buyer and the same seller merge into one shipment for label printing.

The buyer sees a single combined shipping charge instead of three separate ones, and Whatnot adjusts what the buyer paid at checkout to match the combined weight tier rather than the sum of individual weight tiers.

A quick example Whatnot documents: “If you set a max bundle size of 3 for an item and a buyer orders 4 → 3 ship together, 1 ships separately.” That is where a seller with heavy cards or bulky comics caps the box before Smart Bundling pushes weight past 50 lb.

Manual bundling in Seller Hub

Whatnot's bundle help page also documents a manual path for when a seller wants to combine anyway: “from whatnot.com, open the Shipments page in Seller Hub, filter by Needs Label, select two or more shipments from the same buyer, click Bundle Selected Shipments, and review changes and confirm.” Read 2026-08-11. Both shipments must still be at the Needs Label stage; once a label has printed the merge is closed.

The bundled parcel gets a fresh label from the combined weight the seller enters. Under-weighing at this step invoices back on the seller's next payout, so use a real scale on the merged box, not the summed weights of the original tickets.

Setting the seller side up right

Custom shipping profiles per category

A trading-card profile at 3 oz per unit and a coin profile at 8 oz per unit bundle differently. Custom profiles let each category carry its own weight, box shape and bundle cap.

Cap bundles at the carrier tier

USPS Ground Advantage's weight tiers step at 1 lb and every pound after. A cap that keeps a combined win under the next tier prevents a small extra piece from bumping the whole bundle up a pound.

Merge overflow into a second bundle, not a chase parcel

Once the cap fires, ship the overflow immediately as its own combined parcel rather than tacking one card into a separate envelope later. Whatnot Shipping Protection covers the label as printed; a hand-added tracking number is outside it.

Where these rules come from

Common questions

Does Whatnot combine shipping automatically?

Yes. Smart Bundling groups a buyer's eligible wins from the same seller into one shipment without seller action. The buyer sees a combined shipping charge at checkout.

Can I combine wins from two different streams?

Yes if they are from the same seller and both inside the bundling window. Wins from two different sellers stay separate no matter what.

Can a show win and a marketplace order bundle together?

No. Whatnot documents that purchases made through different sales channels cannot be bundled.

How do I bundle manually?

From Seller Hub, open Shipments, filter by Needs Label, select the shipments, click Bundle Selected Shipments and confirm the merged weight on the new label.

What is a max bundle size for?

A cap the seller sets per listing to prevent a bundle from growing past a weight or physical limit. Wins beyond the cap start a new bundle instead.
