Another photo-finish at the bottom, $22.62 to $22.63, with the express-ish tiers stretching to $36.09. Clothing is forgiving cargo, no padding needed, so nearly every dollar in these rows is paying for weight and distance rather than protection.

Compression is free money

Vacuum bags or a firm knee-press while taping can cut a clothing box’s volume nearly in half. Smaller carton, same weight, and on bulky lanes a lower dimensional bill.

Roll, do not fold, for density

Rolled garments pack tighter and wrinkle less than flat stacks. A tighter pack means one box instead of two, which halves the labels outright.

Hangers stay home

Wire and plastic hangers add weight, punch through cardboard, and serve no purpose in transit. Ship the clothes, rebuy or pack hangers separately in the moving load.

Clothes-box questions

How much does it cost to ship a box of clothes?

Our 15 lb, 18 × 14 × 12 in example quoted $22.62 with UPS Ground Saver on 2026-07-27, Newark to Atlanta, and every other service stayed under $36.09.

Does compressing clothes really lower the price?

It can. Weight stays constant, but a smaller box avoids dimensional billing on bulky parcels and may drop the whole quote a tier. Compress first, measure after, then quote.

What about shipping a single garment instead?

Prices scale down sharply. A packed dress quoted $10.52 that same day on the same lane, so one-off garments are covered by the light bands rather than this page.

Should I add protection for a clothes box?

Standard wear-and-tear clothing usually does not need it. For designer pieces or sentimental items, add shipping protection during checkout for the declared value.
