Installed batteries: the easy path
A lithium battery sitting inside the device it powers is the tame configuration. Under our policy it ships UN3481, ground only, and at checkout a yellow confirmation panel spells out the terms; tick it and the purchase proceeds. Full details live on our shipping restrictions page.
Loose cells and power banks: stricter
A spare battery or a power bank is a bare energy source, and it takes the standalone-battery path: ground service under UN3480, capped at 100 watt-hours, weight-limited, and screened at checkout. Replacement laptop batteries sold on their own fall in this bucket too. When in doubt, describe exactly what's in the box and let the check decide.
Where the line is drawn
Used electronics get reviewed, and damaged, defective or recalled ones stop at the gate. A laptop with a swollen pack, a phone that took a swim, a device on a recall list; none of these belong in an ordinary parcel, and our checkout will refuse them. That refusal protects the sorting facility and, frankly, your liability.
