Where to drop off a FedEx package
FedEx accepts drop-offs at its own Office and Ship Center branches, at Authorized ShipCenter partners, in street drop boxes, and at retail counters inside Walgreens, Dollar General and some grocery chains. The retail counters are the easiest to reach and the most restricted: under 55 pounds, smaller than 48 by 25 by 25 inches, sealed, and already wearing a FedEx label.
Those numbers come straight from the carrier's own pages and are quoted below with the date they were read. The live map lives on fedex.com, and that is where you should look for opening hours.

The counter checks two things
Is it sealed, and is there a readable FedEx label on it. Everything else is weight and tape measure.
Six kinds of drop point, three sets of limits
FedEx puts the whole network in one sentence: you can choose from “thousands of FedEx Office, FedEx Ship Center, FedEx Authorized ShipCenter, FedEx Drop Box, Walgreens, Dollar General and grocery locations nationwide” (fedex.com, checked 2026-07-28). The limits attached to each group are where the useful detail hides.

Walgreens also publishes a refusal list, and it is worth reading before you drive over: packages that contain dry ice, that contain dangerous goods or hazardous materials, that require temperature-sensitive storage, or that contain live animals will not be taken (fedex.com, checked 2026-07-28). FedEx prices up the weight ladder, and where retail drop-off stops
Every row below is a real quote taken on 2026-07-28 from Newark, NJ 07102 to Atlanta, GA 30303. The carton grows with the contents, as it would in real life, so this is a ladder of realistic shipments rather than one box being filled with lead.

The last row is the interesting one. At 50 lb the shipment still slips under the 55 pound retail ceiling, so a Walgreens or Dollar General counter can legitimately take it, but the box measures 24 by 18 by 14 inches and no drop box on the network will swallow that. Retail drop-off is bounded by two separate walls, and boxes tend to hit the dimension wall long before the weight one.
The three empty cells are honest gaps: FedEx Ground simply did not come back as a purchasable option on those three light shipments that day. Ground Economy carried them instead, which is the pattern we see on most sub-10 lb parcels.
Finding an open one
We do not run a store finder and would not trust one we built. FedEx keeps the live directory at fedex.com, including today's hours and the last collection time for each spot, and that is the list to search. Pharmacy and dollar-store counters typically stay open far later than a Ship Center, which is the real reason the retail partners exist.
A word on what we sell, so there is no confusion at the counter. SMKlog issues United States domestic parcel labels only, bought one at a time with no account and no subscription. International shipments, warehousing and marketplace integrations are outside what we do. A FedEx label bought here prints as a standard 4 by 6 label and is accepted the same way as any other.
Measure before you choose the pin
A tape measure at home beats a rejected box in a shop doorway. The 48 by 25 by 25 inch retail ceiling catches more people than the weight rule does.
Late counter, early cut-off
A store that stays open until 10pm may still have handed its last collection to a driver at 5pm. Opening hours and pickup times are two different numbers.
