What time does UPS deliver?

UPS puts it plainly on its own tracking help page: packages are typically delivered between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m., occasionally later, to a home, and by close of business to a commercial address. Saturday runs on the same pattern with most parcels landing by 8 p.m., there is no Sunday delivery, and only the Next Day Air family carries a commitment time you can hold UPS to.

The rate screen shows the estimated day. UPS sets the hours around it, and only the air tiers put a time in writing.

The UPS clock, straight from the carrier

UPS is unusually blunt about residential timing, and the sentence people need is buried in a tracking-status help article rather than on a marketing page. Here is what the carrier puts in writing.

Two things follow from that last row. UPS Ground is not on the covered list, so a late ground parcel has no refund attached to it. And the widely repeated 7 p.m. figure is a typical residential end, not a ceiling, since the carrier itself writes "occasionally later" straight after it.

What UPS rates returned on three lanes out of Newark

Same box every time, 12 by 10 by 6 in at 5 lb, sent from Newark, NJ 07102 to a near, middle and far destination. The dollar figures are complete checkout totals rather than postage before extras.

UPS rows only, Newark, NJ 07102 to Hoboken NJ 07030, Dallas TX 75201 and Seattle WA 98101, quoted 2026-07-28.

The Hoboken block is the interesting one. Ground, 3 Day Select and 2nd Day Air all came back at one business day across the river, which means paying $4.23 more than the ground row bought nothing at all on that hop. Ground Saver returned no window on any of the three lanes, so we leave that cell empty rather than guess a number for it.

Residential and commercial run on different clocks

A home gets a long afternoon window and a business gets whatever its own closing time is. If a package has to land before a shop shuts, ship it to the shop address rather than an apartment, because the driver sequences commercial stops around those hours.

Out for delivery is a dispatch, not an estimate

UPS describes that status as the parcel having been handed to a driver for its final leg. It says nothing about position on the route, so a scan at 6 a.m. and a doorstep at 6 p.m. are entirely consistent with each other.

Buy an hour only from the Next Day Air family

The commitment times and the refund both live with Next Day Air, Next Day Air Early and Next Day Air Saver. Every other UPS service sold in the calculator gives you an estimated date, and estimates do not come with money back when they slip.

UPS delivery hours, answered

How late does UPS deliver?

To a home, UPS states packages are typically delivered between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m., occasionally later, per ups.com checked 2026-07-28. To a business, the carrier defines the end point as close of business. On Saturdays UPS says most packages are generally delivered by 8 p.m.

Does UPS deliver on Sunday?

No. UPS states there are no deliveries on Sunday, per its weekend pickup and delivery page checked 2026-07-28. Saturday service does run for both residential and commercial parcels across the majority of the US population.

Which UPS services come with a time commitment?

The Next Day Air family. UPS lists Next Day Air Early and Next Day Air among its covered services, extends Next Day Air Saver to end of day at 11:59 p.m., and extends the typical 10:30 AM residential commitment on Next Day Air to 12:00 PM. UPS states the guarantee remains suspended for services outside that list, which includes UPS Ground.

Why did a fast UPS service quote the same day as ground?

Short hops flatten the difference. On our 2026-07-28 quotes from Newark to Hoboken, UPS Ground at $11.24, 3 Day Select at $15.22 and 2nd Day Air at $15.47 all came back at one business day for the same 12 by 10 by 6 in, 5 lb box. Paying up bought no time on that lane.
