Is UPS SurePost the same as UPS Ground Saver?
Yes. The UPS support page for the service states that Ground Saver is the updated name for the service formerly known as UPS SurePost, checked 2026-07-28. Older seller dashboards and help articles still print the retired name.
What does tendered to delivery service provider mean?
It marks the final-mile handoff on this kind of economy tier. UPS says packages may be delivered by UPS or the USPS, so once the UPS leg is finished the parcel passes to whoever covers that address. The UPS tracking number keeps updating either way.

UPS puts it at approximately one to two additional business days compared with UPS Ground. On our 2026-07-28 quotes the Ground Saver rows returned a day count with no transit window attached, while UPS Ground on the same request read 2-3 business days.
Does Ground Saver always cost less?
Not above about 20 lb. On Newark NJ 07102 to Atlanta GA 30303, a 16 lb box quoted $20.50 on Ground Saver against $23.70 for UPS Ground, but a 50 lb box quoted $66.50 against $45.01, so the slower service cost $21.49 more.
