Printing a shipping label with no printer at home

You have three solid outs: let USPS print the label for you at a counter or kiosk through its Label Broker feature, have USPS mail you the printed label for $1.65 through Label Delivery, or email the label PDF to anyone who does own a printer. All three end with a normal label on a normal box, and none of them changes what the shipping itself costs.

Lock a rate before you find a printer

USPS Label Broker, the QR route

Per usps.com, checked 2026-07-27, you bring a Label Broker QR code and your sealed package to a participating Post Office, and the retail associate scans the code and prints the label at no charge. Self-service kiosks take the same QR or an 8 to 10 character Label Broker ID typed in. Our USPS Label Broker guide walks the whole flow, including finding a participating location. Since 2026-09-05 a domestic USPS label bought through SMKlog carries this QR code on its own label page, next to the PDF, so the trip needs no printer at all — use either the code or a printed copy, not both.

USPS Label Delivery, by mail

The same usps.com page lists a slower fallback: USPS prints the physical label and delivers it to you for a $1.65 per-label charge. Useful when no participating Post Office is close, nobody in your circle owns a printer, and the ship date can wait a few days.

Email the PDF to hardware you borrow

Every SMKlog label ships with an Email Label button, so the PDF can land in a friend’s inbox, an office, or the copy counter at a library or shipping store. Public printing usually carries a small per-page charge that varies by location; call ahead rather than trusting a number off a blog.

Printer-free questions

Does the Post Office print shipping labels at no cost?

At participating locations, yes. Per usps.com, a retail associate scans your Label Broker QR code and prints the label without charging for it, and self-service kiosks handle the same code while you skip the counter line.

Can I just show the label on my phone screen?

A screen works where QR flows exist, like Label Broker at USPS, because the counter does the printing for you. It does not replace the physical label; a barcode on paper still has to ride on the box.

Can a friend print a label I bought here?

Yes. Use the Email Label button after checkout, or forward the downloaded PDF yourself. The file prints identically anywhere and nothing about it is tied to your device.

Where can I print if no Post Office is nearby?

Anywhere documents print: libraries, office-supply and shipping stores, a workplace machine. Fees vary by location and tend to be modest, but we will not quote a figure we cannot check, so ask the desk first.
