How much does IKEA charge for delivery

IKEA does not sell a single delivery price. Its own pricing page, read 2026-09-01, splits large-item delivery into four named tiers, doubles most of them by whether you carry an IKEA Family membership, and adds a further step-up in five Northeast states and four metro regions. The figures below are copied straight off that page, not estimated.

Speed, membership and ZIP code each move the figure IKEA quotes at checkout.

The four large-item tiers, standard continental pricing

Every tier below starts a delivery to your door, your building lobby, or a room of your choice, and every one requires the same $35 merchandise minimum before it can be selected at checkout.

Read from ikea.com/us/en/customer-service/services/delivery/, 2026-09-01. Prices are IKEA's own stated starting figures and vary further by ZIP code, weight and item.
TierIKEA FamilyNon-memberWhat you get
Standard Delivery$19$29Left outside your door or building lobby, within a date range you choose. Orders under 300 lb.
Scheduled Doorstep Delivery$29$39Same drop point, but you pick the exact date, as early as tomorrow, with a 4-hour window.
Scheduled In-Home Delivery$59$69Carried into one room of your choice, on a date and window you set.
Express In-Home Delivery$69$79Same as Scheduled In-Home but as soon as tomorrow, where the ZIP code offers it.

Every step from Standard to Express In-Home adds roughly $10 to $30 for a Family member, and the member discount itself holds steady at $10 off every single tier. Orders over 500 lb are limited to the two In-Home tiers, where available.

The Northeast surcharge, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Rhode Island and New York, applies to all four tiers. The San Francisco, Washington DC, Northern Virginia and Southern Maryland surcharge is only published for the two doorstep tiers; IKEA's page does not list a separate In-Home figure for that group.

Small items, Hawaii, and the mattress add-on

Small order shipping

For lighter goods, textiles, decor, accessories, capped at 50 lb, IKEA does not print a base non-member price on its own page. What it does state is that an IKEA Family membership saves $5 on a qualifying order over $35.

Hawaii

The one destination that gets its own flat starting figure regardless of membership: shipping to select Hawaii ZIP codes starts at $80 for every customer, per IKEA's own page.

Mattress removal

A $30 add-on booked in store alongside a mattress delivery. Free where required by state law in California, Connecticut, Oregon and Rhode Island, and not available for online orders at all.

The $35 rule is a floor, not a free-shipping ceiling

It is worth separating two ideas IKEA's page keeps distinct. A $35 pre-tax merchandise subtotal is required before shipping or delivery can be selected at checkout at all — below that, the option does not appear. Nowhere on IKEA's delivery page does a larger cart waive the fee; every tier above still carries its starting price no matter how much is in the order.

Individual store location pages have run their own time-limited events advertising a flat-out free delivery, tied to a specific store and a specific order size. Those are promotional and local, not the standing national rate structure on IKEA's main delivery page, and this guide prices only the standing structure.

Common questions

How much does IKEA charge for delivery?

IKEA's own delivery pricing page, read 2026-09-01, lists four large-item tiers starting at $19 for IKEA Family members and $29 for non-members on the slowest option, rising to $69 for members and $79 for non-members on the fastest In-Home tier, before any regional surcharge. Small item shipping for lighter goods like textiles and decor is not given a base price on that page at all.

Does IKEA offer free delivery over a spending threshold?

Not as a standing, sitewide rule. IKEA's own delivery page states a minimum $35 merchandise subtotal to qualify for shipping or delivery at all, which sets a floor to unlock the service, not a ceiling that waives its cost. Individual IKEA store pages have advertised time-limited free-delivery events, but those are store-specific promotions, not a policy on the main delivery page.

Is IKEA delivery cheaper with an IKEA Family membership?

Yes, on every tier IKEA publishes. Its own pricing page, read 2026-09-01, shows IKEA Family members paying $10 less than non-members at every large-item delivery tier in the standard continental pricing, and $5 less than non-members on small order shipping over $35. Membership itself carries no cost, per the same page.

Why does IKEA delivery cost more in some states?

IKEA's own pricing page names two regional exceptions, both read 2026-09-01. Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Rhode Island and New York carry a $10 to $20 surcharge over the standard price on every tier, and San Francisco, Washington DC, Northern Virginia and Southern Maryland carry a smaller surcharge on the two doorstep tiers specifically.

Does SMKlog quote or ship IKEA furniture?

No. IKEA delivers its own furniture through its own delivery network at the prices on this page. SMKlog prices parcels for anyone shipping a box on their own label, which is a different shipment than an IKEA order arriving from an IKEA warehouse.
