Does UPS deliver on Monday?

Yes, without qualification, for the overwhelming majority of Mondays in the year. Ground, Ground Saver and the residential Home-tier services all run Monday exactly as they run any other weekday. The question people are usually really asking is narrower: is this particular Monday one of the handful UPS closes for a holiday, and what happens to a package that sat over the weekend. Both are answered below from UPS's own 2026 operations calendar, read 2026-08-30.

Five Mondays a year carry a federal holiday. UPS treats only three of them as closed.

Which Mondays close the network

Five federal holidays land on a Monday in 2026, and UPS does not treat them uniformly. The split is worth memorizing, because it cuts against the assumption that every Monday holiday is a shipping holiday.

Three Mondays closed, two open, out of five federal holidays that happen to fall on the day. UPS is not tracking the federal calendar one-for-one; it is running its own list. The full year, including the December rows where pickup and delivery split apart, is on our UPS holiday schedule page.

What an ordinary Monday looks like

UPS offers Monday through Saturday services for residential and commercial packages.ups.com, Saturday Delivery and Pickup Options, read 2026-08-30

That single sentence is the whole rule for a non-holiday Monday: Monday sits inside the six-day operating block UPS names outright, with nothing that singles Monday out for special treatment the way Saturday gets its own residential-versus-commercial fee split. Ground, Ground Saver and the Home-tier residential services all run their normal routes. The only thing that changes Monday's status is a date landing on the closed list above.

Why Monday tracking can look like it skipped ahead

A parcel that showed nothing new from Friday evening to Monday morning has not necessarily been sitting still. The pause a customer sees is a delivery pause, not proof the whole network stopped.

UPS's published definition of the status that covers most of a shipment's visible life, Shipped/On the Way, is simply that UPS has received the shipment, it is moving through the network, and it now has a scheduled delivery date — with the same page adding that shipments traveling long distances likely will not be scanned again until they reach their destination hub. Neither statement is tied to a day of the week. Sort centers and linehaul trailers are a different operation from the residential route that stops at a front door, and a parcel can pick up several of those facility-to-facility scans across a weekend before a driver ever carries it the last mile on Monday. That is why a tracking page can look frozen all weekend and then post three or four updates before lunch on Monday: the quiet stretch was the delivery side pausing, not the whole shipment.

Where these facts come from

Holiday calendars are revised without much notice. Treat the table above as what UPS published on the date shown and re-check before promising a delivery date around a Monday holiday.

UPS Monday questions

Does UPS deliver on Monday?

Yes. Monday is an ordinary UPS delivery day for Ground, Ground Saver and residential Home-tier services, the same as any weekday. The exceptions are three specific Mondays in 2026 that UPS marks closed on its published operations calendar.

Which Mondays does UPS close in 2026?

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on 19 January, Memorial Day on 25 May, and Labor Day on 7 September. All three are marked Closed for domestic ground, air and international on the UPS 2026 holiday operations schedule.

Which Monday holidays stay open?

President's Day on 16 February and Indigenous Peoples' Day (Columbus Day) on 12 October are both marked Open for domestic ground, air and international on the UPS 2026 schedule, despite being federal holidays.

Why does UPS tracking sometimes jump several steps on a Monday morning?

Because a delivery pause is not the same as a network pause. UPS defines Shipped/On the Way as a shipment received and moving through its network, and says on the same page that long-distance shipments likely will not be scanned again until they reach their destination hub; a package can move through several sort points over a weekend even when nobody's front door is being visited, so the visible scan history can land all at once on Monday.

Does a Monday holiday delay a package already moving?

It generally adds a day to the transit count, the same as any other closed date landing inside a shipment's window. The published operations calendar is the place to check which specific Mondays that applies to before promising an arrival date.
