Can I ship wine to Delaware?
No. Delaware Code Title 4 does not carry a direct-to-consumer wine shipping permit for out-of-state wineries or retailers. FedEx and UPS refuse to tender wine to a Delaware address as a result.
What about USPS?
USPS is federally prohibited from carrying wine, beer or liquor. The Postal Service is not an alternative in any state.
Can a winery I love ship to me in Delaware?
Not lawfully. A winery that does ship anyway is putting its own state license at risk and the parcel is likely to be intercepted.
How do Delaware residents get wine that is not sold locally?
Special-order through a Delaware retailer, buy at the winery in person, or ship to a friend or relative in a DTC-legal state and carry it home under the personal-use provisions.
Is this likely to change?
Direct-shipping bills have been introduced in Dover repeatedly and have not passed. Check the current session before assuming a change.
